It all started when Gino Bucciarelli, on 15 July 1963, opened a wholesale sheet metal trading company called Toscana Commercio Ferro di Bucciarelli Gino in Soffiano, Florence. These were years of great development prospects that allowed the company to establish itself solidly in the local market, thanks to the dedication and entrepreneurial vision of the founder.
With the entry of his children Sauro and Patrizia in 1980, the family business was established with headquarters in Osmannoro, Florence, and took the name Siderurgica Fiorentina. Also, Francesca, the founder's wife, contributed her valuable input, strengthening the family-oriented nature of the company. This family cohesion became the pillar on which the company's reliability and generational continuity were built.
As the company progressed, the initial spaces began to become tight. Times were changing, and the company needed to keep up with an evolving market that required products in coils and sheets cut to size. In 1985, Siderurgica Fiorentina moved to its new plant in Tavarnelle Val di Pesa, in the province of Florence. Here, it was equipped with lines for coil cutting, becoming a fully-fledged "steel service centre", equipped with the most modern technologies of the time to efficiently meet customer needs.
The following years saw rapid growth and the need for an even larger and more technologically advanced location. In 2000, Siderurgica Fiorentina moved to its new and current site in Castellina Scalo, in the province of Siena. On this new area of 70,000 sqm, the company made significant investments with the goal of creating a steel service center of reference for the Italian market. Modern plants were installed, showcasing the latest technology and performance, with an optimised layout that includes an internal railway yard, improving both logistical and production efficiency.
It was precisely during these years, from 2005 to 2012, that the members of the third generation made their entry: Francesco, Filippo and Leonardo, sons of Sauro, and Lorenzo, son of Patrizia, bringing new energy and perspectives for the company's future. With the same dedication and professionalism, they contributed to continuing the family’s steel tradition, combining acquired experience with the desire to innovate and keep the company in line with the most modern technologies in the sector.
In the following years, land acquisitions and multiple expansions took place. These developments led to the creation of a steel hub covering 43,000 sqm on a total area of 100,000 sqm, with a production capacity of 400 Kt per year, consolidating the company’s position as one of the most important steel centres in the country. A constantly evolving investment plan ensures growth looking toward the future.
In 2023, the family expanded further with the entry of Valentina, the second daughter of Patrizia, who joined the company team, contributing to strengthening the generational continuity.
Today, Siderurgica Fiorentina boasts a high-level industrial structure, capable of delivering excellent service through a mix of professionalism, reliability, and constant investments in cutting-edge technologies. The company is in continuous expansion, it is one of the largest existing service centres, and it aims to become a unique steel hub of its kind.
The combination of a strong family tradition and a forward-looking vision ensures that Siderurgica Fiorentina remains a point of reference in the Italian steel sector, maintaining high standards of quality and innovation over time.
